Nuchi Masu Salzfabrik (ぬちまーす)

Nuchi-Masu ist der Markenname eines hochwertigen Salzes, welches auf Okinawa (Japan) hergestellt wird. Die Salzgewinnungs-Anlage liegt auf der Insel Miyagi-Jima, die über eine Brücke von der Hauptinsel Okinawa zu erreichen ist. Mitten im Grünen, gelegen am Rande einer Steilküste wurde die Anlage vor wenigen Jahren neu errichtet. Neben der Fabrik gibt es für Besucher ein Restaurant/Cafe, einen Shop sowie kostenlose Führungen.

Das Salz aus Okinawa wurde sogar im Jahre 2000 ins Guinnes Buch der Weltrekorde eingetragen. Mit 21 verschiedenen Mineralien enthält das Nuchi-Masu Salz deutlich mehr Mineralien als alle anderen angebotenen Salze. Dafür wurde den Produkten auch das Qualitätssiegel in Gold, „Monde Selection 2007“, verliehen.

Das Salz lässt sich übrigens auch zur Tofu-Herstellung wunderbar verwenden.

Herstellung des Nuchi-Masu Salzes

Das patentierte Herstellungsverfahren unterscheidet sich grundlegend von der traditionellen Salzgewinnung. Zunächst wird aus dem Pazifischen Ozean Meereswasser aus einigen Kilometern in die Anlage gepumpt. Da die Produktionsstätte auf der etwas abgelegenen Insel Miyagi-Jima gebaut wurde, ist dort das Wasser von besonders hoher Qualität.

Um aus dem Meeres-Wasser Salz zu gewinnen, wird das Wasser sehr fein in einer Halle versprüht. Der „Salzwasser-Nebel“ wird dann durch den natürlich warmen Wind, der durch die Halle geleitet wird, getrocknet. Somit sammeln sich am Boden der Halle die feinen mineralienreichen Salzpartikel an, die dann für die Herstellung verschiedener Produkte verwendet werden.

Das Salz wird für die Herstellung von Kosmetik-Artikeln, Nahrungsergänzungsmitteln, Keksen, Chips und vielen anderen Produkten verwendet.

Besichtigung, Shop

Vor Ort kann man kostenlos an einer Führung teilnehmen, die etwa 20-30 Minuten dauert. Die Führung wird aber nur auf Japanisch und zwischen 09:00 und 17:30 Uhr angeboten.

Nach der Besichtigung wird man in den Shop im ersten Stock geführt, wo man einige der Produkte auch probieren kann. Die beim „Fabrik-Verkauf“ angebotenen Produkte von Nuchi-Masu kosten aber in etwa genauso viel wie in den Geschäften auf Okinawa. Richtige Schnäppchen gibt es also hier nicht.

Nuchi Masu Café Takahanari

Das Café-Restaurant ist täglich zwischen 10:00 Uhr morgens und 17:30 Uhr geöffnet. Besonders empfehlenswert ist die salzhaltige Eiscreme – natürlich hergestellt mit Nuchi-Masu Salz.

Spaziergang zu den Steilklippen

Von der Nuchi-Masu-Fabrik aus kann man noch zu Fuß einen kurzen Abstecher zu den Steilklippen machen. Dafür muss man nur vom Parkplatz aus dem beschilderten Weg folgen. Nach ca. 200 Metern erreicht man schon den Aussichtspunkt. Dort hat man einen wirklich sagenhafter Ausblick auf die schroffe Küstenlandschaft von Miyagi Jima und die benachbarte Insel Ikei-Jima. Ein perfekter Punkt um ein paar schöne Erinnerungs-Bilder zu machen.
